History Books
Sophie Jackson
Some of the first books I wrote were historical non-fiction for The History Press (formerly Sutton) and Fonthill Media. All remain available in print and cover a variety of subjects from medieval festivities to WWII spies. These items are available in a variety of the formats and can be purchased from Amazon or from traditional booksellers.
The Horse in Myth and Legend
Published by Tempus 2006 (reprinted 2007)
"This is a small book, but only in terms of its dimensions. It contains a good deal of well-researched information and thoughtful speculation, the whole well-presented and very readable. Certainly worth adding to any collection of books about the role of horses in the popular imagination."
Churchill's White Rabbit
Published by The History Press 2011
"This book brings fresh insights, fresh research material from more recently released archives and for me critically it gives a truer sense of this remarkable man's challenges and achievements."

Churchill's Unexpected Guests
Published by The History Press 2010
"This was a very civilized and intelligent overview of the problem from the British view. Most helpful was the numerical lists of POW camps and their geographic location. The section "Keeping an eye on the Russians" was particularly gruesome and showed the Soviets genocide approach that became evident only in 1947."
